The Platform Engineer is responsible for the planning, configuration, testing, and maintenance of Blackhawk Network’s business critical IT infrastructure.

• Configure, maintain, and optimize the Unix/Linux Server environment across on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
• Apply OS patches, upgrades, and security updates regularly while maintaining administrative tools and utilities.
• Configure and maintain hardware platforms to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
• Monitor Unix/Linux IT systems for availability, performance, and security compliance.
• Troubleshoot system-related incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure critical infrastructure stability, security, and scalability.
• Provide On-Call support for incident response and issue resolution as required.
• Assist in the implementation of Infrastructure as Code strategies using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible to automate infrastructure provisioning and management.
• Assist in supporting the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines for system updates, deployments, and infrastructure automation.
• Assist in the deployment and management of containerized environments using Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
• Work closely with DevOps and application teams to improve deployment workflows and automation strategies.
• Create and maintain detailed runbooks, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with Infosec, Compliance, and Application teams to ensure security and compliance standards are met.
• Effectively communicate technical concepts effectively with management, stakeholders, and external vendors.

• 4+ years’ experience with designing, developing, and managing complex environments of Unix variants like AIX, Solaris, OpenBSD, and Redhat and CentOS Linux distributions
• Proven experience in Unix/Linux system administration, managing enterprise-grade infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with log aggregation tools.
• Proficiency in managing NFS file systems and LAMP stack.
• Hands-on experience with BASH and Python scripting for automation and system management.
• Experience with cloud migrations and integrations (highly desirable).
• Experience administering Linux workloads in public cloud environments (highly desirable).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (highly desirable).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation (highly desirable).
• Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Splunk and New Relic (highly desirable).
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent professional certification.
