Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Staff Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, management, and optimization of our cloud-based database systems. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our data infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain scalable and secure database solutions on AWS (RDS, Aurora, Mongo Atlas, etc.)
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of critical database initiatives, from requirements gathering through implementation and support
  • Manage cross-functional collaboration for projects such as migrations, disaster recovery planning, and performance improvements
  • Ensure timely and compliant delivery of database solutions aligned with business goals and SLAs
  • Own project timelines, documentation, and stakeholder communication across the project lifecycle
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning as needed
  • Perform regular database backups, disaster recovery planning, and testing
  • Ensure high availability and business continuity of databases
  • Manage database security including access controls and encryption
  • Automate administrative tasks using AWS tools and scripts (CloudFormation, Terraform, Python, etc.)
  • Perform database migrations and upgrades as necessary
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in a timely manner
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with a strong focus on cloud-native AWS environments
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database services: RDS (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle), Aurora, and MongoDB Atlas
  • Proficient with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation
  • Strong understanding of database design principles, indexing, and normalization
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Performance Insights)
  • Solid grasp of database security best practices, including encryption, IAM, and auditing
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Bash)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to system health and performance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
