Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer in Test to join our team. Automation is at the core of this role - you will be expected to design, build, and evolve our test automation capabilities using modern frameworks and tooling, with Playwright / C# / Selenium / SpecFlow/Reqnroll at the heart of your approach.

Whilst automation is the principal responsibility, the role may also encompass some manual QA activity. This includes exploratory testing, supporting new feature validation, and contributing to quality assurance processes where automation alone is not sufficient. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable writing robust automated test suites and conducting thorough, structured manual testing when the situation demands it.

Responsibilities:

  • Automate test plans for key user journey’s, APIs and other software components in Blackhawk's technology stack using C# as the primary language.
  • Expertise and experience designing Automation Frameworks from scratch, with a strong preference for BDD-based approaches using Playwright,  SpecFlow/Reqnroll and Selenium (using C#).
  • Demonstrable ability to build robust, maintainable Page Object Model (POM) frameworks in C#.
  • Technical expertise in building effective testing frameworks that are scalable and reusable.
  • Proficient in front-end, backend, and system testing across complex, distributed platforms.
  • Experience with scalability and performance testing tools such as JMeter.
  • Experience with online tools such as BrowserStack
  • Should be a good coach for the team with excellent communication skills, including the ability to guide others in BDD practices and test file authoring.  Whilst you will be responsible for implementing and structuring the test setup, you must be able to guide the team through maintaining and expanding the available tests.

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of QA automation experience, with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Expert coding and design skills with a C# background and solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
  • Thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and Quality methodologies, including BDD and TDD.
  • Experience working with agile/scrum-based teams, contributing to sprint ceremonies and collaborating closely with developers and product owners on acceptance criteria.
  • Experience testing large-scale, complex products with both software and infrastructure components.
  • Comfortable building tools and utilities in C# to increase team efficiency and reduce repetitive manual effort.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Knowledgeable about measuring test coverage and system behaviour, and interpreting data to drive quality decisions.
  • Organised, delivery-focused, and a proactive communicator within and across teams.

We seek candidates who not only demonstrate curiosity and adaptability in emerging technologies but have also successfully implemented and utilized AI tools to enhance their work, improve processes, or deliver measurable results.  Our teams embrace continuous learning and the thoughtful integration of AI to create meaningful impact – for our employees and the future of work.
