Overview:

We are looking for a NOC Engineer with strong technical foundations and high growth potential to join the Major Incident Management team within the Operations Command Centre (OCC).

This is not a traditional NOC role. You will split your time between real-time incident management and building the future of our system availability and health through observability, automation, and intelligent tooling. You’ll be working at the intersection of engineering and operations, helping us move toward a more automated, resilient, and self-healing platform.

We are particularly interested in candidates early in their careers who demonstrate exceptional problem-solving ability, technical curiosity, and a drive to learn quickly. You don’t need decades of experience, but you do need the mindset and capability to grow fast and take ownership. We value engineers who actively use modern tooling and AI-assisted workflows to improve productivity, accelerate learning, and solve problems more effectively.

This role offers a unique opportunity to rapidly accelerate your career by gaining hands-on experience with large-scale production systems, modern cloud and observability platforms, AI-driven operational tooling, and high-impact incident leadership in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Responsibilities:

Incident Management & Response

  • Monitor production systems and identify issues before they impact customers.
  • Lead incident bridges for high-severity incidents, helping to triage, diagnose, communicate and resolve production issues.
  • Communicate clearly during incidents, ensuring stakeholders are informed and aligned: Strong technical communication (written and verbal) is foundational to this role.
  • Drive post-incident reviews and help identify root causes and improvements.

Observability, Automation & Engineering

  • Build and improve dashboards, alerts, and monitoring across our systems.
  • Develop scripts, tools, or automations to reduce manual work and speed up incident response.
  • Work with experienced engineers to design smarter detection and response mechanisms.
  • Analyse system behaviour and incident trends to proactively prevent future issues.
  • Contribute to initiatives around AI-driven incident management and auto-remediation.
  • Use modern engineering tooling, including AI-assisted development workflows, to improve efficiency and accelerate delivery:
    • observability platforms such as Splunk, New Relic
    • Work within cloud and containerised environments including AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tooling
    • State of the art AI powered dev lifecycle

Learning & Growth

  • Rapidly develop your technical and operational skillset through hands-on experience.
  • Learn how large-scale, high-availability systems operate in BHN production.
  • Take increasing ownership of systems, tools, and processes as your capability grows.
  • Collaborate with engineering, platform, and network teams to deepen your expertise.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, particularly around AI, observability, and automation.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., computer science, engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • 2+ years of experience in Incident Management, NOC operations, Site Reliability Engineering, technical support, or another hands-on technical problem-solving role.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot unfamiliar issues, think critically under pressure, and rapidly learn new technologies.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively during incidents and explain technical issues clearly.
  • Comfortable using modern engineering and collaboration tooling such as VS Code, Git, GitHub, Jira, Glean, Confluence etc
  • Basic exposure to scripting or programming (e.g., Python, Bash, Java, or similar).
  • A strong ownership mindset, curiosity, and desire to continuously improve systems, tooling, and operational processes.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in high-availability or customer-facing production environments such as FinTech, payments, SaaS, e-commerce, or cloud platforms.
  • Exposure to observability and monitoring platforms such as Splunk, New Relic, Grafana, Datadog, Dynatrace, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience building scripts, automations, or internal tooling to reduce operational overhead and improve incident response efficiency.
  • Experience using modern AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or AI-enhanced observability platforms.
  • Interest in applying AI and automation to operational challenges such as intelligent alerting, incident summarisation, root-cause analysis, workflow orchestration, or self-healing systems.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, incident management processes, service operations, or major incident coordination.
